TUBI SUPPORTS UNIFIED ID 2.0 INITIATIVE
FOX Entertainment’s streaming service is the first CTV publisher to implement Unified ID 2.0 to solve for the future of identity
SAN FRANCISCO, June 22, 2021 – Tubi (www.tubi.tv), a division of FOX Entertainment, today announced it will be the first CTV publisher to implement Unified ID 2.0, the new industry-wide approach to internet identity that preserves the value of relevant advertising across digital ecosystems. Unified ID 2.0 is an upgraded alternative to third-party cookies and serves as a connective tissue in cookie-less environments, such as CTV apps. Initially developed by The Trade Desk, Unified ID 2.0 represents an ID solution that is interoperable and aims to address consumers’ desire for more transparency and control. Prebid.org has agreed to serve as an independent operator for Unified ID 2.0 later this year.
Tubi joins a growing list of industry leaders that are supporting Unified ID 2.0 as a pioneer identity solution. Tubi’s support expands the footprint of Unified ID 2.0 on the largest screen in the room, as well as all the devices where consumers enjoy premium TV content. As advertisers look for ways to target the right audiences, Unified ID 2.0 helps to solve for addressability while making advertising relevant to consumers. This new integration is the latest initiative from the FOX portfolio in bringing data-driven solutions to the forefront for advertisers.
“As a proudly ad-supported streaming platform, addressability has always been important functionality for Tubi,” said Mark Rotblat, Chief Revenue Officer, Tubi. “Our ability to reach audiences at scale across an increasingly fragmented ecosystem is enhanced by our integration with Unified ID 2.0. And as the first CTV publisher to implement Unified ID 2.0 in the market with this capability, we provide brands a means for more scale to the audiences they want to reach across platforms, higher-quality measurement, and ultimately, a path towards better outcomes.”
“By coming together with media leaders like Tubi to address the future of identity, we’re improving the digital advertising experience across all digital media,” said Tim Sims, Chief Revenue Officer, The Trade Desk. “Unified ID 2.0 is a collaboration among everyone within the advertising ecosystem to pioneer an interoperable, soon-to-be open-source ID solution that helps advertisers connect with audiences, while keeping consumer control and privacy in mind. With Tubi actively sending Unified ID 2.0’s into the bidstream, we can further enhance the once- in-a-generation experience happening in CTV.”
Tubi has more than 30,000 movies and television shows from over 250 content partners, including every major studio. The service gives fans of any type of movie or TV show an easy way to discover new content that is available completely free. This Fall, Tubi will continue to give audiences more of what they love with 140+ hours of original content designed with users in mind, spanning exclusive documentaries from FOX Alternative Entertainment, animated titles from Emmy-award winning Bento Box Entertainment, and premium independent-minded titles across the Black Cinema, thriller, horror, sci-fi, romance and western genres. This premium programming fueled by content intelligence and coupled with 1:1 addressability gives brands optimal value at scale.
Tubi is available on Android and iOS mobile devices, Amazon Echo Show, Google Nest Hub Max, Comcast Xfinity X1, Cox Contour, and on OTT devices such as Amazon Fire TV, Vizio TVs, Sony TVs, Samsung TVs, Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, Android TV, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, and soon on Hisense TVs globally. FOX ENTERTAINMENT’S TUBI AND ROGERS SPORTS & MEDIA RELEASE IN-DEPTH LOOK AT THE RISE OF CANADIAN STREAMING VIDEO CONSUMPTION IN NEW REPORT, FULL STREAM AHEAD
FOX ENTERTAINMENT’S TUBI AND ROGERS SPORTS & MEDIA RELEASE IN-DEPTH LOOK AT THE RISE OF
CANADIAN STREAMING VIDEO CONSUMPTION IN NEW REPORT, FULL STREAM AHEAD
54% of streamers in Canada say their viewing has increased over the past year, with their daily average streaming consumption increasing by 2.4 hours daily
Tubi saw a 107% year-over-year increase in total view time (TVT) in Canada from January 2020 – January 2021
SAN FRANCISCO, May 27, 2021 – Tubi (www.tubi.tv), a division of FOX Entertainment, and Rogers Sports & Media, today released a new report entitled Full Stream Ahead, providing insights around the rise of streaming video consumption in Canada and capturing the increase that streaming offers to linear TV ad spend. The report examines how these changes affect advertisers, agencies, content creators and distributors as they look to forge effective campaigns in the post-COVID landscape. Full Stream Ahead found that 54% of Canadians streamed more over the past year, with Adults 18-34 citing the most significant change. Additionally, Canadian streamers’ average daily streaming consumption has increased by 2.4 hours per day. In Canada, Tubi is the most popular ad-supported video on demand (AVOD) service (20%) behind YouTube (34%) and saw a 107% year-over-year increase in total view time (TVT) from January 2020 through January 2021.
“Full Stream Ahead informs brands that now more than ever, streaming video consumption will become second nature to today’s younger demographic, and AVOD offers a vital opportunity for advertisers to reach them,” said Natalie Bastian, Vice President of Marketing, Tubi. “Having a streaming media strategy to complement linear TV investments will not only optimize reach but future-proof campaigns.”
Full Stream Ahead also found that viewers on AVOD services consumed an additional 30 minutes of content daily compared to subscription video consumers. Furthermore, two-thirds of streamers say their consumption will not decrease once pandemic restrictions loosen.
“In partnership with Tubi, streaming has grown exponentially over the last two years, and as we continue to grow our sports, news and entertainment properties, Rogers Sports & Media is a must buy in this fragmented marketplace,” said Al Dark, Senior Vice President & Chief Revenue Officer, Rogers Sports & Media.
With the rise of overall content consumption, brands and agencies have an opportunity to reach complementary and incremental streaming audiences across premium brand safe content. 85% of Tubi users in Canada have an SVOD subscription and Tubi users spend on average four hours daily streaming content.
The findings from Full Stream Ahead were unveiled at today’s #FullStreamAhead live event, which also featured an interactive panel discussion with Julie Adam, SVP, News & Entertainment, Rogers Sports & Media; Mark Rotblat, Chief Revenue Officer, Tubi; Stuart Garvie, CEO, Group M; Michela Di Mondo, SVP, Sales & Distribution, FremantleMedia, and Stephen McArdle, Chief Administrative Officer, and SVP of Digital Media and Strategic Planning, NHL.

TUBI RELEASES NEW INSIGHTS ON GROWTH IN STREAMING AND AD-SUPPORTED VIDEO-ON-DEMAND ADOPTION WITH LATEST FINDINGS FROM THE STREAM
TUBI RELEASES NEW INSIGHTS ON GROWTH IN STREAMING AND AD-SUPPORTED VIDEO-ON-DEMAND ADOPTION WITH LATEST FINDINGS FROM THE STREAM
70% of Americans are watching more TV now than in March 2020, according to follow-up study from Tubi’s April 2020 audience report with OnePoll studying COVID-19’s impact on streaming
Survey finds 50% of Americans turned to ad-supported streaming services (AVOD) over the past year
SAN FRANCISCO, May 13, 2021 – Tubi (www.tubi.tv), a division of FOX Entertainment, in conjunction with third-party research firm OnePoll, today released new data on consumer streaming behavior, uncovering emerging trends that point to its continued growth one year after the COVID-19 pandemic began significantly impacting the U.S. in March 2020.
The latest research from Tubi’s audience report The Stream revealed video streaming consumption skyrocketing with 70% of Americans participating in the study watching more TV now than they were in March 2020. Among that group, the average person is streaming three additional hours each day since that time. Tubi has seen this upward trend with its viewers over the last year, recently announcing a record-setting Total View Time (TVT) of 798 million hours during the first quarter this year, up 54% year-over-year, and a platform-best 276 million hours of TVT in March.
“Movies and TV shows served as a much-needed escape and form of entertainment over this past year,” said Natalie Bastian, Vice President, Marketing at Tubi. “As many viewers turned to streaming, Tubi experienced exponential growth over the last year with no signs of slowing down—we saw 2.5 billion hours streamed in 2020 alone and we’re continuing to shatter records in 2021.”
The Stream report also finds that nearly half (49%) of people are searching for ways to pay less for their streaming services in 2021 than they did in 2020, with many turning to ad-supported streaming services (AVOD) as a solution to cure subscription fatigue. Nearly a third (32%) of people in the study plan on canceling a subscription streaming service (SVOD) they currently use, with one in three (33%) citing cost as their reason to cancel a subscription. With half (50%) of those in the study turning to free ad-supported streaming services over the past year, 29% among this group did so as a way to cut costs, while 39% did so as a way to supplement their subscription services. The study revealed that consumers crave variety, with 40% of those surveyed noting that a large library of movies and TV shows is important to them in a streaming service, followed by the service being free or affordable (38%).
While more than half of those surveyed (55%) used streaming as an escape from their daily lives, many were also watching more news to keep up with the current events in 2020, with 55% also watching more news now than they were prior to the beginning of the pandemic. Respondents watched local news the most (53%) followed by national news (45%). In October 2020, Tubi launched News on Tubi, a comprehensive live news offering which will carry nearly 100 local station feeds in 2021 covering 58 designated market areas (DMAs), providing the most robust local news offering of any AVOD service.
“Tubi’s median viewer age is 20 years younger than that of linear TV and 39% of our audience identify as multicultural,” noted Bastian. “We’re speaking directly to this demographic in the coming year with a larger library that will soon feature original content, sports programming and an expanded news offering, particularly as viewers look to scale back their subscription costs without sacrificing quality content at their fingertips.”
The Stream
The Stream is Tubi’s ongoing Research and Insights program uncovering the latest trends in video advertising with an emphasis on all things streaming.
Research Methodology
The study, which was conducted online in conjunction with third-party research firm OnePoll, surveyed a panel of 2,000 general population Americans. The research was carried out from March 9 through 10, 2021.

The slate has included such diverse and acclaimed films as the cult, phenomenon Miami Connection; 2013 SXSW Midnight Audience Award black comedy/thriller Cheap Thrills; Ben Wheatley’s “psychedelic trip into magic and madness” A Field In England, the Netherlands’ official 2014 Oscar® entry Borgman; Japanese auteur Sion Sono’s Toronto International Film Festival Audience Award-winning Why Don’t You Play In Hell?; Ari Folman’s epic sci-fi animated/live-action hybrid The Congress starring Robin Wright, Harvey Keitel, and Jon Hamm; the audacious and award-winning Ukrainian sign language drama The Tribe; Karyn Kusama’s nerve-jangling thriller The Invitation; the bizarro Men & Chicken, starring a hilariously unrecognizable Mads Mikkelsen; and many more.
