TUBI SUPPORTS UNIFIED ID 2.0 INITIATIVE

FOX Entertainment’s streaming service is the first CTV publisher to implement Unified ID 2.0 to solve for the future of identity

SAN FRANCISCO, June 22, 2021 – Tubi (www.tubi.tv), a division of FOX Entertainment, today announced it will be the first CTV publisher to implement Unified ID 2.0, the new industry-wide approach to internet identity that preserves the value of relevant advertising across digital ecosystems. Unified ID 2.0 is an upgraded alternative to third-party cookies and serves as a connective tissue in cookie-less environments, such as CTV apps. Initially developed by The Trade Desk, Unified ID 2.0 represents an ID solution that is interoperable and aims to address consumers’ desire for more transparency and control. Prebid.org has agreed to serve as an independent operator for Unified ID 2.0 later this year.

Tubi joins a growing list of industry leaders that are supporting Unified ID 2.0 as a pioneer identity solution. Tubi’s support expands the footprint of Unified ID 2.0 on the largest screen in the room, as well as all the devices where consumers enjoy premium TV content. As advertisers look for ways to target the right audiences, Unified ID 2.0 helps to solve for addressability while making advertising relevant to consumers. This new integration is the latest initiative from the FOX portfolio in bringing data-driven solutions to the forefront for advertisers.

“As a proudly ad-supported streaming platform, addressability has always been important functionality for Tubi,” said Mark Rotblat, Chief Revenue Officer, Tubi. “Our ability to reach audiences at scale across an increasingly fragmented ecosystem is enhanced by our integration with Unified ID 2.0. And as the first CTV publisher to implement Unified ID 2.0 in the market with this capability, we provide brands a means for more scale to the audiences they want to reach across platforms, higher-quality measurement, and ultimately, a path towards better outcomes.”

“By coming together with media leaders like Tubi to address the future of identity, we’re improving the digital advertising experience across all digital media,” said Tim Sims, Chief Revenue Officer, The Trade Desk. “Unified ID 2.0 is a collaboration among everyone within the advertising ecosystem to pioneer an interoperable, soon-to-be open-source ID solution that helps advertisers connect with audiences, while keeping consumer control and privacy in mind. With Tubi actively sending Unified ID 2.0’s into the bidstream, we can further enhance the once- in-a-generation experience happening in CTV.”

Tubi has more than 30,000 movies and television shows from over 250 content partners, including every major studio. The service gives fans of any type of movie or TV show an easy way to discover new content that is available completely free. FOX ENTERTAINMENT’S TUBI AND ROGERS SPORTS & MEDIA RELEASE IN-DEPTH LOOK AT THE RISE OF CANADIAN STREAMING VIDEO CONSUMPTION IN NEW REPORT, FULL STREAM AHEAD

May 27, 2021

FOX ENTERTAINMENT’S TUBI AND ROGERS SPORTS & MEDIA RELEASE IN-DEPTH LOOK AT THE RISE OF
CANADIAN STREAMING VIDEO CONSUMPTION IN NEW REPORT, FULL STREAM AHEAD

54% of streamers in Canada say their viewing has increased over the past year, with their daily average streaming consumption increasing by 2.4 hours daily

Tubi saw a 107% year-over-year increase in total view time (TVT) in Canada from January 2020 – January 2021

SAN FRANCISCO, May 27, 2021 – Tubi (www.tubi.tv), a division of FOX Entertainment, and Rogers Sports & Media, today released a new report entitled Full Stream Ahead, providing insights around the rise of streaming video consumption in Canada and capturing the increase that streaming offers to linear TV ad spend. The report examines how these changes affect advertisers, agencies, content creators and distributors as they look to forge effective campaigns in the post-COVID landscape. Full Stream Ahead found that 54% of Canadians streamed more over the past year, with Adults 18-34 citing the most significant change. Additionally, Canadian streamers’ average daily streaming consumption has increased by 2.4 hours per day. In Canada, Tubi is the most popular ad-supported video on demand (AVOD) service (20%) behind YouTube (34%) and saw a 107% year-over-year increase in total view time (TVT) from January 2020 through January 2021.

Full Stream Ahead informs brands that now more than ever, streaming video consumption will become second nature to today’s younger demographic, and AVOD offers a vital opportunity for advertisers to reach them,” said Natalie Bastian, Vice President of Marketing, Tubi. “Having a streaming media strategy to complement linear TV investments will not only optimize reach but future-proof campaigns.”

Full Stream Ahead also found that viewers on AVOD services consumed an additional 30 minutes of content daily compared to subscription video consumers. Furthermore, two-thirds of streamers say their consumption will not decrease once pandemic restrictions loosen.

“In partnership with Tubi, streaming has grown exponentially over the last two years, and as we continue to grow our sports, news and entertainment properties, Rogers Sports & Media is a must buy in this fragmented marketplace,” said Al Dark, Senior Vice President & Chief Revenue Officer, Rogers Sports & Media.

With the rise of overall content consumption, brands and agencies have an opportunity to reach complementary and incremental streaming audiences across premium brand safe content. 85% of Tubi users in Canada have an SVOD subscription and Tubi users spend on average four hours daily streaming content.

The findings from Full Stream Ahead were unveiled at today’s #FullStreamAhead live event, which also featured an interactive panel discussion with Julie Adam, SVP, News & Entertainment, Rogers Sports & Media; Mark Rotblat, Chief Revenue Officer, Tubi; Stuart Garvie, CEO, Group M; Michela Di Mondo, SVP, Sales & Distribution, FremantleMedia, and Stephen McArdle, Chief Administrative Officer, and SVP of Digital Media and Strategic Planning, NHL.

TUBI RELEASES NEW INSIGHTS ON GROWTH IN STREAMING AND AD-SUPPORTED VIDEO-ON-DEMAND ADOPTION WITH LATEST FINDINGS FROM THE STREAM

May 13, 2021

TUBI RELEASES NEW INSIGHTS ON GROWTH IN STREAMING AND AD-SUPPORTED VIDEO-ON-DEMAND ADOPTION WITH LATEST FINDINGS FROM THE STREAM

70% of Americans are watching more TV now than in March 2020, according to follow-up study from Tubi’s April 2020 audience report with OnePoll studying COVID-19’s impact on streaming

Survey finds 50% of Americans turned to ad-supported streaming services (AVOD) over the past year

SAN FRANCISCO, May 13, 2021 – Tubi (www.tubi.tv), a division of FOX Entertainment, in conjunction with third-party research firm OnePoll, today released new data on consumer streaming behavior, uncovering emerging trends that point to its continued growth one year after the COVID-19 pandemic began significantly impacting the U.S. in March 2020.

The latest research from Tubi’s audience report The Stream revealed video streaming consumption skyrocketing with 70% of Americans participating in the study watching more TV now than they were in March 2020. Among that group, the average person is streaming three additional hours each day since that time. Tubi has seen this upward trend with its viewers over the last year, recently announcing a record-setting Total View Time (TVT) of 798 million hours during the first quarter this year, up 54% year-over-year, and a platform-best 276 million hours of TVT in March.

“Movies and TV shows served as a much-needed escape and form of entertainment over this past year,” said Natalie Bastian, Vice President, Marketing at Tubi. “As many viewers turned to streaming, Tubi experienced exponential growth over the last year with no signs of slowing down—we saw 2.5 billion hours streamed in 2020 alone and we’re continuing to shatter records in 2021.”

The Stream report also finds that nearly half (49%) of people are searching for ways to pay less for their streaming services in 2021 than they did in 2020, with many turning to ad-supported streaming services (AVOD) as a solution to cure subscription fatigue. Nearly a third (32%) of people in the study plan on canceling a subscription streaming service (SVOD) they currently use, with one in three (33%) citing cost as their reason to cancel a subscription. With half (50%) of those in the study turning to free ad-supported streaming services over the past year, 29% among this group did so as a way to cut costs, while 39% did so as a way to supplement their subscription services. The study revealed that consumers crave variety, with 40% of those surveyed noting that a large library of movies and TV shows is important to them in a streaming service, followed by the service being free or affordable (38%).

While more than half of those surveyed (55%) used streaming as an escape from their daily lives, many were also watching more news to keep up with the current events in 2020, with 55% also watching more news now than they were prior to the beginning of the pandemic. Respondents watched local news the most (53%) followed by national news (45%). In October 2020, Tubi launched News on Tubi, a comprehensive live news offering which will carry nearly 100 local station feeds in 2021 covering 58 designated market areas (DMAs), providing the most robust local news offering of any AVOD service.

“Tubi’s median viewer age is 20 years younger than that of linear TV and 39% of our audience identify as multicultural,” noted Bastian. “We’re speaking directly to this demographic in the coming year with a larger library that will soon feature original content, sports programming and an expanded news offering, particularly as viewers look to scale back their subscription costs without sacrificing quality content at their fingertips.”

The Stream
The Stream is Tubi’s ongoing Research and Insights program uncovering the latest trends in video advertising with an emphasis on all things streaming.

Research Methodology
The study, which was conducted online in conjunction with third-party research firm OnePoll, surveyed a panel of 2,000 general population Americans. The research was carried out from March 9 through 10, 2021.

FOX Entertainment’s Free Streaming Service to Debut 140+ Hours of All-New Content, Featuring Exclusive Documentaries from FOX Alternative Entertainment, Animated Titles from Emmy Award-Winning Bento Box Entertainment, and Premium Independent-Minded Titles

Tubi’s Record-Setting Total View Time Marked by 798 Million Hours the First Quarter this Year and a Platform-best 276 Million Hours in March

Tubi (www.tubi.tv), a division of FOX Entertainment, today announced its original content rollout strategy of stand-alone feature-length Tubi Originals to begin debuting this coming fall. FOX Entertainment’s free streaming service will debut 140+ hours of all-new content, including Tubi Original Documentaries from FOX Alternative Entertainment; animated titles from FOX Entertainment’s Emmy Award-winning animation studio, Bento Box Entertainment; and premium independent-minded titles across the Black Cinema, thriller, horror, sci-fi, romance and western genres.

The announcement of Tubi’s originals strategy comes shortly after the one-year anniversary of FOX acquiring the leading AVOD platform. With a vast, data-driven library of more than 30,000 titles and live news content, Tubi registered a record-setting Total View Time (TVT) of 798 million hours during the first quarter this year, up +54% year-over-year, and a platform-best 276 million hours of TVT in March.  In 2020 alone, more than 2.5 billion hours of content were streamed on Tubi.

“At FOX Entertainment, we’re engaging every part of the company, including FOX Alternative Entertainment and Bento Box, to develop original titles for Tubi,” said Charlie Collier, CEO, FOX Entertainment. “Working together as one, we are combining all of our skills and talents with Tubi’s data-driven technology, to produce original content that speaks directly to Tubi’s passionate streaming audience.”

“Our data-driven original programming approach represents an important and strategic step in moving forward Tubi’s successful track record of disrupting the norm, and its longstanding mission to give our audience more of what they want,” said Farhad Massoudi, CEO of Tubi. “Our strategy super-serves audiences with smart and sensible content by tapping into what they are consuming, and the genres that are most popular on Tubi.”

Today, Tubi released additional audience data, with the median age of the platform’s viewers at 37 – 20 years younger than that of linear TV – and 39% of its audience identifying as multicultural. Additionally, 68% of Tubi’s audience does not watch other ad-supported streaming services.

Tubi also outlined its offerings for brands to access its Content Intelligence insights, with custom reporting at the campaign level to better inform creative and targeting. Along with unveiling a Certified Measurement Partner Program with select vendors to ensure no matter what goals advertisers have, Tubi can provide insight-led solutions.

In addition, Tubi is advancing its platform to help advertisers connect with the platform’s young, diverse and incremental audiences by solving challenges such as ad repetition with Advanced Frequency Management. It also is developing new ways for advertisers to connect with their desirable audiences in more meaningful ways with on-device-sponsored integrations.

Tubi officially joined FOX in April 2020 and, as it continues to scale quickly and display sustained growth, its originals slate is being developed and produced with a viewer-first approach around their pockets of passion. Tubi’s proprietary Content Intelligence is a cornerstone in its development of originals, feeding the needs of viewers by applying personalization with viewer consumption data. Constantly mining this active data and doubling down to give viewers more of what they want, advertising within Tubi’s original content will be hyper-relevant to viewers and seamlessly integrated. Tubi Original Documentaries will reflect audiences’ passions, including True Crime, the Royals, Paranormal and the compelling sinking of the Titanic. Tubi Originals will also be incorporated into seasonal and owned tentpole programming moments, such as its upcoming Hot Christmas and shark event programming later this year.

A strong combination built on two companies 100% dedicated to advertisers, FOX’s broad hits and Tubi’s mission to reach deep into viewers’ passions together create a natural integration from linear to streaming, with content not behind a paywall. FOX’s longstanding history of creating culture-piercing programming, working with top creatives in the industry, and offering advertisers a more personalized approach, gives Tubi the creative benefits to build its original programming strategy. Tubi’s expansive library, strong technology base, rooted in its Content Intelligence, as well as its young and diverse audience, allows FOX to reach an audience not available to linear.

Tubi has more than 30,000 movies and television series from more than 250 content partners, including every major studio, in addition to the largest live local and national news channels. The platform gives fans of entertainment, news and sports an easy way to discover new content that is available completely free.

TUBI ENTERS CONTENT DEAL WITH SHOUT! FACTORY TO BRING WORLD-CLASS ANIME TITLES
TO ITS FAST-GROWING LIBRARY, BEGINNING APRIL 8

Premium collection of acclaimed films – including Millennium Actress, Liz and the Blue Bird,
Penguin Highway and In This Corner of the World – further expands robust anime offering on FOX Entertainment’s free streaming service

SAN FRANCISCO, April 7, 2021 – Tubi (www.tubi.tv), a division of FOX Entertainment, today announced it has entered a content deal with Shout! Factory to bring a collection of premium anime films to its viewers. New titles coming to Tubi include the award-winning In This Corner of the World and Eleven Arts Anime Studio’s Millennium Actress, as well as Liz and the Blue Bird, Penguin Highway and several additional critically acclaimed titles. These popular films will be available completely free to viewers – with most available in subtitled and dubbed versions – beginning April 8, with In This Corner of the World coming to Tubi in 2022.

“Tubi has a significant audience of anime lovers and our latest additions from Shout! Factory will soon give them even more of what they’ve been binging,” said Adam Lewinson, Chief Content Officer at Tubi. “As we continue to super serve our anime viewers, we’re thrilled that these award-winning and fan-favorite titles will now have a new home on our platform.”

“This is an exciting new opportunity,” said Melissa Boag, Senior Vice President of Family Entertainment at Shout! Factory. “This agreement will provide Tubi viewers with access to an amazing collection of popular Japanese anime films from Shout! Factory. We’re excited to collaborate with Tubi to bring viewers quality anime content they enjoy.”

“We are thrilled to further expand our partnership with Tubi and make our award-winning Japanese Anime available to an even wider audience,” said Julie Dansker, Head of New Content Sales at Shout! Factory.

Titles coming to Tubi include:

  • Millennium Actress

Winner of Tokyo Anime Award and nominated for multiple Annie awards, this gorgeous new restoration is what many believe to be Satoshi Kon’s (Perfect Blue, Paprika) greatest work. When the legendary Ginei Studios shuts down, filmmaker Genya Tachibana and his assistant are tasked with interviewing its reclusive star, Chiyoko Fujiwara, who had retired from the spotlight 30 years prior. As Chiyoko recounts her career, Genya and his crew are literally pulled into her memories where they witness her chance encounter with a mysterious man on the run from the police. Despite never knowing his name or his face, Chiyoko relentlessly pursues that man in a seamless blend of reality and memory that only Satoshi Kon could deliver. The film also garnered the Grand Prize in the Japan Agency of Cultural Affairs Media Arts Festival.

  • Liz and the Blue Bird

Directed by Naoko Yamada, students and best friends Mizore Yoroizuka and Nozomi Kasaki prepare to play a complex musical duet, “Liz and the Blue Bird,” for oboe and flute. Though they play beautifully together and have been friends since childhood, Mizore and Nozomi find that with graduation looming and the duet proving difficult, their friendship begins to buckle under the pressure. Interspersed with their story is the fantasy tale of Liz, drawn like a storybook, contrasting with the crisp realism of the school. These two distinct styles weave with stirring music to tell an intimate coming-of-age story. The film was nominated for Best Film at the Crunchyroll Awards.

  • Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms

Though only 15, Maquia knows she will live for centuries without aging past adolescence. She belongs to the Iorph, a clan of ageless beings just like her. Maquia’s elders warn her not to fall in love with anyone outside their realm. But fate pushes Maquia out into the mortal world one night when an invading territory separates her from the clan. There she discovers an orphaned baby, Arial, and takes him in as her own child. From this point, Maquia will suffer extreme heartbreak in the name of motherhood, as she watches Arial grow and seeks to reconnect with her lost Iorph friends, all torn apart by the cruel world of Mesate.

  • Penguin Highway

Budding genius Aoyama is only in the 4th grade, but already lives his life like a scientist. When penguins start appearing in his sleepy suburb, hundreds of miles from the sea, Aoyama vows to solve the mystery. When he discovers that the arrival of the penguins is somehow related to a mysterious young woman from his dentist’s office, they team up for an unforgettable summer adventure! The film was nominated for Best Animated Film at the Japanese Academy Awards.

  • The Wonderland

On the day before her birthday, young Akane meets the mysterious alchemist Hippocrates who brings her through a basement and into a fantastical world full of magic and color. Though things seem peaceful on the surface, he reveals this world is in danger and as the destined Goddess of the Green Wind, it is Akane’s responsibility to bring back the rain and save this world from the terror known as Zan Gu. Joining Akane on her journey is Pipo, an alchemist in training, and her adventurous Aunt Chii. The only problem? Akane just wants to go home. The film is directed by Keiichi Hara.

  • Sound! Euphonium: The Movie – Welcome To The Kitauji High School Concert Band
  • Sound! Euphonium: The Movie – May The Melody Reach You
  • Sound! Euphonium: The Movie – Our Promise: A Brand New Day

Based on the manga and television series, the Sound! Euphonium movies follow Kumiko, a young girl at Kitauji High School who plays euphonium in her school’s orchestra. Follow the band on their mission to reach Nationals while juggling romance and adolescence.

  • Haikara-San: Here Comes Miss Modern Parts 1 & 2

Adapted from Waki Yamato’s popular manga, Kazuhiro Furuhashi’s Haikara-San is a heartfelt, and sometimes comical, tale of love surviving through the perils of war and separation.

  • Donten: Laughing Under the Clouds Gaiden
  • One Year After the Battle, The Tragedy of Fuuma Ninja Tribe, and Conspiracy of the Military

It’s been a year since brothers and shrine guardians, Tenka, Soramaru, and Chutaro, have defeated the legendary giant snake that threatened to destroy humanity. However, their lives are thrown into upheaval when they discover a plot to revive the evil serpent.

  • In This Corner of the World

Based on the award-winning manga by Fumiyo Kouno and brought to life by acclaimed filmmaker Sunao Katabuchi (Mai Mai Miracle) and producer Taro Maki, In This Corner of The World tells the emotional story of Suzu, a young girl from Hiroshima, who’s just become a bride in the nearby city of Kure during World War II. Living with her husband’s family, Suzu has to adjust to her new life, which is made especially difficult by regular air raids. But life must go on, and Suzu — through the help of her new family and neighbors — begins to discover the joys of everyday life in Kure. Much is gained in Kure, but with war, many things cherished are also lost. In This Corner of The World is brought to life, in stunning animation, by acclaimed filmmaker Sunao Katabuchi (Mai Mai Miracle) and producer Taro Maki. The film was also nominated for Best Film at the Annie awards, among several other wins and nominations.
