Tubi Surpasses 97 Million Monthly Active Users and 10 Billion Streaming Hours in 2024

January 6, 2025

San Francisco, January 6, 2025 – Tubi (www.tubitv.com), Fox Corporation’s (NASDAQ: FOXA, FOX) ad-supported streaming service, today announced it surpassed 97 million monthly active users and streamed over 10 billion hours during the 2024 calendar year. Tubi offers the world’s largest collection of movies and TV episodes, including over 300 exclusive originals, engaging fandoms with a fun and easy viewing experience across connected televisions, mobile devices, the web and more.

“Tubi’s momentum is growing as audiences increasingly value a premium entertainment experience that is also 100% free, fun and reflective of culture,” said Anjali Sud, CEO of Tubi. “Our strategy is simple yet powerful: put viewers first by offering unique stories from unique storytellers, a vast selection of content to choose from and a delightful experience across devices. We let our viewers guide us and obsess over their engagement, and we are seeing the results.”

More than 95% of viewing on Tubi is on demand movies and TV shows. Over thirty-four percent of Tubi viewers are between the ages of 18-34, over half are Gen Z or Millennials and nearly half are multicultural, while 77% report not having cable, according to the November MRI Cord Evolution Study. Tubi has been resonating with these audiences as it expands its programming to feature exclusive Tubi Originals, an extensive library of premium licensed and acquired titles, content partnerships with independent distributors and with the launch of Stubios, its fan-fueled studio that puts the power to greenlight content in the hands of fans.

Exclusive content has been gaining adoption on Tubi with nearly 1 in 4 viewers watching a Tubi Original. The young adult romance, SIDELINED: THE QB AND ME, premiered in November and brought in more viewers of any title in Tubi’s history in its first week and the most new viewers for any Tubi title ever. In the last six months, six Tubi Original films hit Variety’s Streaming Originals Chart, which ranks the most-watched streaming originals every week based on data sourced from Luminate.

New Original premieres this quarter include: THE THICKET, a dark Western thriller starring Peter Dinklage and Juliette Lewis, THE Z-SUITE, a workplace comedy featuring Lauren Graham, the return of the hit comedy-drama BOARDERS and episodes of WE GOT TIME TODAY hosted by sports legend Deion Sanders and Emmy© Award-winning media personality Rocsi Diaz.

Tubi continues to invest in market-leading ad tech and measurement capabilities, including integrations with FreeWheel, AudienceXpress and via FOX’s AdRise platform, and with ad formats like Tubi Takeovers, Timeouts and branded content opportunities through Tubi 360. The majority of Fortune 100 brands are now advertising on Tubi as more advertisers seek to reach the growing population of cord cutters and nevers in a high attention environment.

SAN FRANCISCO, December 9, 2024 Tubi (www.tubi.tv), Fox Corporation’s (NASDAQ: FOXA, FOX) ad-supported streaming service, today announced its recent Tubi Original, “Sidelined: The QB and Me” is #1 in both the US and Canada since its premiere on Friday, November 29th exclusively on Tubi. TUBI AND THE BLACK LIST ANNOUNCE FINALISTS

November 26, 2024

TUBI AND THE BLACK LIST ANNOUNCE FINALISTS

Five Projects have been Selected as Part of the First-of-its-Kind Partnership with the Black List to Discover New Stories With Diverse Audience Appeal

SAN FRANCISCO, November 26, 2024 – Tubi (www.tubi.tv), Fox Corporation’s (NASDAQ: FOXA, FOX) ad-supported streaming service, today announced the finalists in a first of-its-kind partnership with The Black List. Originally titled the “To Be Commissioned” Initiative – the partnership was established to discover fresh, new stories from both emerging and established writers. The initiative drew approximately 2,000 submissions out of which five finalists were selected. Each script has been selected for further development with the goal of greenlighting to production and distribution by Tubi. The Black List would executive produce the films.

The five finalists (in alphabetical order) are as follows:

  • All Things Considered by James Choi. After an overdose sends Paul to the hospital, his spirited Korean-American Mother, So-Ri, is determined to reconnect with her son and help him with his depression through an exotic South Korean ritual that promises to deliver people from their despair.
  • Marigold Paradox by Monisha Dadlani. A couple’s elaborate wedding weekend is jeopardized when their future selves travel back in time to stop the matrimony.
  • Frankentits by Ellen Meiser. From the shitty and the funny to the lonely bits, an imaginative millennial grapples with breast cancer. Will she reject life or embrace every single part of it?
  • The Chicken Murders by Nadia Osman. Based on the true story of Zankou Chicken, the son of a dysfunctional Armenian family flees the Lebanese Civil War with his “loved” ones to open a chain of successful chicken restaurants in LA — but ambition, greed, and trauma tear the family apart, leading to betrayal, revenge, and murder.
  • Pick Me Up by V.P. Walling and Mark Skeele Wilson. A gay pill-addicted gynecologist and a Queer out-of-work, out-of-shape, out-of-chances comedian set off on a road trip to rehab, and find recovery in each other.

“As a platform that proudly advocates for first time filmmakers and creatives, our partnership with The Black List amplifies our investment in the future of storytelling,” said Adam Lewinson, Chief Content Officer at Tubi. “These five projects are exactly the type of unique and impactful stories that we look forward to developing with the goal of reaching Tubi’s vast, diverse audience.”

“By partnering with Tubi, who understands how to intentionally reach its communities and fans through content on the platform, we’re proud to champion great, undiscovered writing that is representative of  the future of storytelling,”said Franklin Leonard, founder of The Black List.

With over 81 million monthly active users, Tubi has emerged as the fastest growing U.S. streaming service and the world’s largest content library that brings together the most vast, diverse universe of stories. The initiative underscores Tubi and the Black List’s commitment to broadening the access to these diverse stories on a global scale.

Dadlani is repped by Verve, Good Fear and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Feldman, Rogal, Shikora & Clark, Inc. Osman is repped by Ginsburg Daniels Kallis. Walling & Wilson are also repped by Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Feldman, Rogal, Shikora & Clark.

About the Black List

The Black List is a platform dedicated to identifying and celebrating exceptional storytelling. First established in 2005 as an annual survey of Hollywood’s most-liked unproduced screenplays, The Black List has since grown into a comprehensive resource for the film, TV, publishing, and theater worlds, serving thousands of writers, agents, managers, showrunners, producers, financiers, directors, actors, and theater industry professionals.

More than 400 scripts from the annual Black List survey have been produced, grossing over $28B in worldwide box offices. Films produced from those Black List scripts have won four Best Picture Oscars and 12 Best Screenplay Oscars since 2007. A Harvard Business school study found that “Black-Listed scripts were twice as likely to be made into films…They also did better at theaters, with movies of the same budget generating 90% more revenue at the box office.”

In October 2012, The Black List launched a unique online community to cater to the needs of screenwriters, creatives, and industry professionals. Since its inception, it has hosted more than 100,000 scripts and provided more than 130,000 script evaluations. Among the films produced: NAACP Award-nominated MR MALCOLM’S LIST, Independent Spirit Award-nominated THE NOVICE, and Golden Globe-nominated NIGHTINGALE, starring David Oyelowo. The Black List also supports various programs for writers–including mentorships, production funds, and direct financial grants–in collaboration with its sponsors.

In September 2024, The Black List announced its expansion into fiction. This launch allowed fiction writers to use blcklst.com to create a free profile that showcases their completed novels regardless of publication status, purchase professional feedback from The Black List’s experienced readers, and submit their manuscripts to various fiction-specific programs. As a longstanding advocate for increasing access and visibility for screenplays in Hollywood, The Black List aims to bring the same clarity and connectivity to the publishing industry, linking it with the film and television industries and writers around the world.

About the Writers

James Choi has extensive experience spanning Hollywood and the independent film scene in Chicago. Throughout his career, he’s produced two critically acclaimed films, Made in China, which received the Grand Jury Award, and Saint Frances, which won the Audience Award at South by Southwest. Tubi Launches Scenes, a Feature to Find Your Next Watch

With Scenes Viewers Can Easily Discover What to Watch By Scrolling Through Clips from Tubi’s Catalog

SAN FRANCISCO, November 21, 2024 – Tubi (www.tubitv.com), Fox Corporation’s (NASDAQ: FOXA, FOX) ad-supported streaming service, announced the launch of a new feature, called Scenes. Scenes helps Tubi viewers find what to watch by allowing them to scroll through short clips from movies and TV shows. Tubi offers access to more than 250,000 movies and TV episodes through a personalization experience that leverages machine learning and AI models to surface fandoms and rabbit holes to discover and explore. The new feature is part of Tubi’s product strategy to provide effortless entertainment on mobile.

“Currently, users either get a shrunk down version of their TV streaming app on their phones or are limited to quick vertical videos on social platforms. We believe there’s a better way to meet the needs of mobile users on the go, allowing them to watch both short form video and long form within the same app,” said Mike Bidgoli Chief Product and Technology Officer at Tubi. “By creating features that leverage the strengths of each device, we can create an effortlessly entertaining experience for viewers looking for quick bursts of entertainment on the go that transition seamlessly to their living rooms.”

Scenes, found on Tubi’s navigation bar on iOS and Android devices, provides access to tens of thousands of clips from movies and TV episodes across the service and leverages Tubi’s machine learning engine to personalize the experience. As viewers engage by liking or saving content to My List within Scenes, recommendations will become increasingly personalized. After saving content to MyList, viewers can easily watch the content across any of the 30+ devices Tubi is available.

Reaching more than 81 million monthly active users, Tubi is the most watched free TV and movie streaming service in the U.S. and offers the worlds largest collection of movies and TV episodes including hundreds of Tubi Originals like the upcoming Sidelined: The QB and Me, We Got Time Today and The Z-Suite. TUBI APPOINTS ROSS APPLETON AS GENERAL MANAGER IN THE UK

LONDON, October 31, 2024 – Tubi (www.tubitv.com), Fox Corporation’s (NASDAQ: FOXA, FOX) ad-supported streaming service, today announced that Ross Appleton has been appointed as General Manager, UK. Reporting into the Managing Director of Tubi’s International business, Appleton will be responsible for setting commercial and content strategy, scaling the company’s UK team, and continuing to grow Tubi into a market-leading ad-supported streaming service in the UK.

“We are thrilled with the momentum we have built in the UK since we launched in July, and are excited to bring Ross into the business as we continue to scale out our team and platform,” said David Salmon, Executive Vice President and Managing Director. “Ross’ deep expertise in UK TV and streaming will enable us to accelerate our growth and ensure we are delivering a content experience that UK consumers love.”

I’m eager to build on the foundation of the recent UK launch, and firmly believe Tubi is in a strong position to become a mainstay in the UK media landscape.”

Appleton joins Tubi following a 12-year career at ITV, the UK’s largest commercial broadcaster, where he held multiple leadership roles.
