TUBI TO LAUNCH BBC’S COMING-OF-AGE SERIES “BOARDERS”

SAN FRANCISCO, January 24, 2024 – Tubi (www.tubi.tv), Fox Corporation’s ad-supported streaming service, announced today it will exclusively launch the BBC British coming-of-age dramedy BOARDERS in North America in a deal with All3Media International. Written by BAFTA-nominated screenwriter Daniel Lawrence Taylor the series follows the lives of five talented Black teenagers from inner-city London as they navigate life at an elite boarding school. BOARDERS is produced by Studio Lambert in association with All3Media International for the BBC, and will make its North American debut on Tubi in the first quarter of 2024.

BOARDERS is a high energy, warm and funny coming of age drama which follows the lives of five Black inner city school teenagers who find themselves on scholarships to one of Britain’s oldest and most prestigious boarding schools, St. Gilberts. The series will see these students navigate a new world, forming new friendships along the way while also going on journeys of self-discovery.

BOARDERS was created and written by Daniel Lawrence Taylor, with Emma Dennis-Edwards, Yemi Oyefuwa and Ryan Calais Cameron writing episodes. The series is led by a cast of young rising talent including Josh Tedeku (“Supacell,” “A Town Called Malice”), Jodie Campbell (“Bulletproof,” “No Return”) and Myles Kamwendo (“The School for Good and Evil”), alongside Sekou Diaby and Aruna Jalloh, both making their screen debuts. Daniel Lawrence Taylor will also appear on screen alongside Derek Riddell (“Happy Valley,” “Gentleman Jack”), Niky Wardley (“Queen of Oz,” “The Catherine Tate Show”), Harry Gilby (“Tolkien”), Tallulah Greive (“Our Ladies,” “Cinderella”), Rosie Graham (“The School for Good and Evil,” “Sanditon”), Georgina Sadler (“The A List”) and Assa Kanoute, making her screen debut.

Directing the series are Ethosheia Hylton (“African Queens,” “Sanditon”) and Sarmad Masud (“You Don’t Know Me,” “Bulletproof”). Executive producers are Daniel Lawrence Taylor, and Madeleine Sinclair and Susan Hogg for Studio Lambert, and Nawfal Faizullah and Ayela Butt for the BBC.

BOARDERS will premiere on Tubi exclusively in North America and LATAM in the first quarter of 2024.

The Gripping Five-Episode Crime Thriller From Lookout Point and Expanded Media Productions Will Premiere in the U.S. and Canada Only on Tubi January 15th 

 

SAN FRANCISCO, January 12, 2024 – Tubi (www.tubi.tv), Fox Corporation’s ad-supported video-on-demand service, announced today that it has acquired the exclusive streaming rights to the enthralling South African limited series, DEVIL’S PEAK. The five-episode crime thriller is based on the best-selling 2004 novel by Deon Meyer and is produced by Lookout Point and Expanded Media Productions in association with MultiChoice Studios and BBC Studios. Tubi will have the exclusive rights to the series in the U.S. and Canada, with the premiere set in both countries for January 15, 2024.

DEVIL’S PEAK is an enthralling crime drama that takes place in the picturesque backdrop of Cape Town, South Africa. The series follows Detective Benny Griessel (Hilton Pelser) who is tasked with tracking down a vigilante killer whose crimes are capturing the imagination of the city. As he gets closer to his mark, Griessel finds himself drawn into a dark and dangerous world where nothing is what it seems.

DEVIL’S PEAK was written and created for television by Matthew Orton (Operation Finale, Moon Knight) who adapted the series with Amy Jephta. Jozua Malherbe (Griekwastad, Justice Served) directed the series with Orton, Laura Lankester from Lookout Point and Francis Hopkinson from Expanded Media executive producing. Nomsa Philiso, Yolisa Phahle, and Allan Sperling of M-Net also executive produced.

New Content Deal with Warner Bros Discovery Adds 10 All-New WB Branded FAST Channels and Renews Existing Channels on Tubi

SAN FRANCISCO, December 12, 2023 Tubi (www.tubitv.com), Fox Corporation’s ad-supported video-on-demand service, announced today that it has expanded its content deal partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery. Tubi has launched 10 all new curated FAST channels, each featuring premium Warner Bros. Discovery content that adds to the Warner Bros. branded FAST channels renewed on the service. New titles across Tubi’s AVOD offering will include blockbuster DC Super Hero films including “The Batman,” “Black Adam,” “Wonder Woman,” and “Aquaman,” and popular series such as “Batwoman,” “Gotham,” and “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.” 

“The addition of recent blockbuster movies and fan-favorite series from the DC library is a monumental offering for Tubi viewers,” said Adam Lewinson, Chief Content Officer, Tubi. “We’re so pleased to have such wonderful partners at Warner Bros. The world of Gotham and Superman is now available on Tubi via on-demand with classic films such as “Batman,” “Batman Returns,” and “Batman Forever,” as well as “Superman: The Movie” and “Superman II,” in addition to series “Batwoman,” “Gotham,” and “Krypton.” Following soon on December 31st is the beloved long-running television series, “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.”

TO BE COMMISSIONED INITIATIVE” 

Tubi Will Select Five Genre Focused Screenplays Intended to Be Developed, Produced and Distributed by Tubi from 

Emerging and Established Writers 

Submissions Can be Made on HERE Beginning Today 

 

SAN FRANCISCO, November 13, 2023 – Tubi (www.tubi.tv), Fox Corporation’s (NASDAQ: FOXA, FOX) ad-supported video-on-demand service, today announced a first-of-its-kind partnership with the Black List on the “To Be Commissioned” Initiative to provide both emerging and established writers with the opportunity to submit their screenplays intended to be developed, produced and distributed by Tubi. Tubi is commissioning five scripts that speak to young, diverse audiences that fit into one of the following genres: Sci-Fi, Faith, Comedy and Romance as well as Wild Card (any genre) which allows for the inclusion of a great script that may not fall within the other specified genres. Writers can submit their entries by visiting https://blcklst.com/programs/the-to-be-commissioned-initiative beginning today and the submission program will run through March 15, 2024.

“The best business plan has always been a great screenplay, and we’re excited to help Tubi find five to make into films for their large and growing audience to enjoy,” said Franklin Leonard, founder of the Black List. “Tubi has done a particularly savvy thing with the kinds of movies they’re targeting and supporting 200 writers in getting access to the Black List site at no cost to them.”

 

Tubi offers viewers the world’s largest content library, which now exceeds 225,000 movies and TV episodes, approx 300 FAST channels. Tubi has committed to a content strategy that showcases diverse voices and stories for young and multicultural audiences, and this partnership with the Black List is one of many avenues in which Tubi is bringing in new, underrepresented storytellers to the platform. 

 

The Black List will be executive producing all five films, and will be collaborating closely with Tubi throughout the entirety of the program. Writers around the world over the age of 18 are welcome to submit their work, but all submitted scripts must be in English. Any script that is hosted on the Black List and has received at least one evaluation is eligible for submission. Writers are also welcome to upload new projects for consideration in this program.

 

Tubi will also be providing fee waivers for one evaluation and one month of hosting for 200 writers from traditionally underrepresented communities. Additional details about how to apply for a Tubi fee waiver will be available on the program submission page on blcklst.com. All fee waivers will be distributed at the discretion of Tubi and the Black List.

 

After submissions close, a committee of Tubi content executives will come together to review all of the scripts and announce those that will be moving forward with development. Viewers can expect to see these Tubi Original Movies starting to hit Tubi as early as 2025.
