Tubi Unwraps New Holiday Data Showing Streaming’s Growing Role in Retail Discovery and Spend

New Research from Tubi and The Harris Poll Reveals 7 in 10 Viewers Shop Online While Streaming, Highlighting a Major Opportunity for Brands to Reach Key Audiences on AVOD this Holiday Season

SAN FRANCISCO, October 30, 2025 – Tubi (www.tubi.tv), Fox Corporation’s (NASDAQ: FOXA, FOX) free ad-supported streaming service, today released new findings from its 2025 Retail and Holiday Study, conducted in partnership with The Harris Poll, exploring how young, multicultural and digitally-native audiences are using streaming as a companion to shopping, driving product discovery and purchasing this holiday season. 

“Streaming plays a powerful role in driving holiday purchases,” said Sharon Silverstein, SVP, US Head of Verticals at Tubi. “With 71% of viewers shopping while streaming and nearly half making a purchase after seeing an ad on Tubi, our scale of highly engaged young, multicultural audiences provides brands with a direct path from impression to transaction.”

Highlights from the Tubi 2025 Retail and Holiday Study:

    • Streaming Drives Spontaneous Shopping: 47% of viewers are driven to shop spontaneously while streaming, with 7 in 10 noting “I’m often shopping online while streaming TV and movies.” Purchases while streaming are most often influenced by ads (44%) and the TV/movie genre viewers watched while shopping (41%), with 60% agreeing “if I see an ad for a product I want, I buy it right away.”
    • Retail Ads on Streaming Inspire Trust and Action: Two-thirds of viewers find products to buy through streaming and the same number trust ads from streaming services, driving 87% to take action (research, purchase, going to brand’s site or social channels, etc.) after seeing an attention-grabbing ad while streaming. 
    • Brand Connection is Driven by Authenticity and “New-stalgia”: Viewers feel connected to brands when they feel “real” (43%), high-quality (43%) and trustworthy (40%), and 77% of viewers are more likely to buy from independent creators (and the brands that support them through collaborations, revenue sharing, showcasing their work, etc.) than mainstream brands. Nostalgia is also driving purchases this holiday season, with 73% of viewers noting “watching nostalgic content prompts me to purchase from brands I associate with my own past experiences.” 
    • Holiday Shoppers Cut Subscriptions, But Not Gifting: Streaming subscriptions are the top category viewers plan to cut to manage budgets ahead of the holiday shopping season (37%), ahead of beauty and wellness treatments (30%) and travel (29%) – yet consumers are still willing to spend on those they love, with 79% agreeing that they’re willing to splurge on the perfect gift. 
    • Singles Want to Treat Themselves This Year: The holidays aren’t just about giving to others this season – singles want to treat themselves this year because holiday deals let them splurge on themselves (44%) and they want to feel good in the new year ahead (40%), with purchases including new clothing (65%), beauty/wellness treatments (44%) and beauty products (40%). 
    • The 9-to-5 Shopping Surge: Remote and hybrid workers are power-shoppers: 59% of viewers admitted to shopping online during breaks in the workday to make time-sensitive purchases (36%) and take advantage of promotions and discounts as soon as they see them (36%). Workday shoppers are most often buying clothing (47%), groceries (46%), and food (40%) during this time. 

With over 100 million monthly active users and fans streaming 1 billion streaming hours per month, Tubi delivers a fully addressable, incremental audience for marketers. More than 95% percent of viewing on Tubi is on demand amongst a young, multicultural audience where 32% are between the ages of 18 and 34 and nearly half identify as multicultural (MRI Cord Evolution, August 2025). About the Data: This survey was conducted online within the United States by The Harris Poll on behalf of Tubi from September 15, 2025, to September 25, 2025, among 1,531 nationally representative respondents ages 15-44 that stream video at least 1 hour a week and shop online at least once a month.

Four New Creator-Driven Films Will Debut on Tubi, Including “Sundown” Starring Kinigra Deon and “85 South: Dead End” Featuring DC Young Fly, Chico Bean and Karlous Miller

SAN FRANCISCO, October 29, 2025 — Tubi (www.tubi.tv), Fox Corporation’s (NASDAQ: FOXA, FOX) ad-supported streaming service, today announced its first-ever exclusive creator content slate as part of its Tubi for Creators program. In an expanded collaboration with Hartbeat, Kevin Hart’s global multi-platform entertainment company, Tubi will debut four original, creator-driven films in 2026, led by Kinigra Deon, and DC Young Fly, Chico Bean, and Karlous Miller of “85 South Show.” The partnership propels the next generation of diverse storytellers into the broader entertainment ecosystem while giving them the creative ownership and visibility to reach Tubi’s 100 million monthly active users.

The multi-title deal kicks off with the film SUNDOWN, a supernatural thriller that was written, directed and stars the multi-hyphenate digital creator Kinigra Deon. The story follows a group of Black college friends who take a wrong turn into a racially hostile town where local myths turn terrifyingly real. The film 85 SOUTH: DEAD END features DC Young Fly, Chico Bean, and Karlous Miller in a satirical horror-comedy about a Southern road trip gone off the rails in a mysteriously offbeat town where no one ever leaves. Two additional films will be announced at a later date.

Nigerian American Creator to Bring Original Horror/Thriller, GLAMPING, to Tubi October 24th 

SAN FRANCISCO, October 3, 2025 – Tubi (www.tubi.tv), Fox Corporation’s (NASDAQ: FOXA, FOX) ad-supported streaming service, today announced actress, writer, and producer Rosemary Idisi as the winner of its first-ever Stubios Greenlight Contest. Idisi’s original horror/thriller, GLAMPING, is slated to premiere October 24th as a Tubi Original. Idisi was selected from a competitive pool of finalists and received the highest fan support during the program’s beta phase, reflecting the growing demand for authentic, underrepresented voices in film and TV. 

“I’m passionate about bringing diverse characters to life on screen, especially in genres where we haven’t traditionally seen ourselves,” said Idisi. “Stubios gave me the access, mentorship, and community support that young filmmakers like me rarely receive. I can’t wait to bring GLAMPING to a broader audience.” 

GLAMPING follows a seemingly idyllic weekend getaway that takes a terrifying turn when a masked killer disrupts the trip of wannabe influencer Olivia and her friends in Big Bear. The film expands on Idisi’s earlier short by diving deeper into the characters’ backstories, building suspense, and exploring survival themes through a fresh, diverse lens.

LOS ANGELES, SEPTEMBER 30, 2025  – FOX Sports and Tubi (www.tubitv.com), Fox Corporation’s (NASDAQ: FOXA, FOX) ad-supported streaming service, today announced a partnership to stream this year’s Thanksgiving Day NFC North showdown on Tubi live in 4K for free.

The NFL’s annual “John Madden Thanksgiving Celebration” kicks off on Thursday, Nov. 27 at 1:00 PM ET, when the Detroit Lions host the Green Bay Packers. Last year’s Thanksgiving Day game on FOX was the most-watched regular-season NFL game of the year, and this year’s NFC North showdown promises to deliver another blockbuster audience across FOX, FOX Sports App, FOX Deportes, FOX One (via subscription or TV provider authentication) and Tubi. The Tubi stream of the game will feature local advertising from FOX’s stations.

LONDON, September 17, 2025 – Tubi (www.tubitv.com), Fox Corporation’s (NASDAQ: FOXA, FOX) ad-supported streaming service, today announced it will be premiering the highly anticipated sequel SIDELINED 2: INTERCEPTED in the UK this autumn, with fans able to stream the hugely successful original movie, SIDELINED: THE QB AND ME now exclusively for free on Tubi.

With its breakout stars Noah Beck and Siena Agudong reprising their leading roles, SIDELINED 2: INTERCEPTED will focus on freshman star quarterback Drayton (Beck) as he struggles with the weight of expectations after a devastating setback, while dancer Dallas (Agudong) begins to question the future she thought she wanted. As their high school relationship begins to unravel under the pressures of distance and self-discovery, they’ll learn that the bravest versions of themselves emerge when they let life redirect them.

The sequel will also see Charlie Gillespie (Julie and the Phantoms) and Roan Curtis (Firefly Lane) joining the cast, as well as James Van Der Beek (Pose) and Drew Ray Tanner (Riverdale) returning to their roles from the original film. Justin Wu will also direct the sequel, with Thunderbird Entertainment’s Great Pacific Media, Marshall Arts and WEBTOON Productions producing.

84% of Gen Z Report Streaming While Working

Tubi is free streaming that entertains more than 100M MAU, engaging fandoms through 300,000 movies and TV episodes of  familiar and adventurous stories. Starting today, Productubity lets streamers toggle from Tubi to a fictitious work screen with a single click, to keep the stream-a-thon from being perceived by their boss and co-workers.

Once users download this simple, fan-first tool from the Chrome Web Store, they can simply open Tubi in a Chrome tab and start streaming. When a supervisor walks by, one toggle of the Productubity icon will instantly switch the screen to a faux article about increasing productivity.   • 38% of viewers say they stream at their job site
  • Nearly 48% of Gen Z workers admit to lying to their bosses about streaming while working
